TEAMS & PROJECTS

  • DIGITAL INTELLIGENCE

Utilize computational tools to track and analyze influence operations conducted by non-democratic regimes. Using the different methodologies we have developed, we are able to map out the various pathways of these operations, and their adversaries and victims, as well as identify the tactics used by different actors to spread state-led propaganda. supporting researchers and investigators in other parts of the globe and have provided access and training for our digital tools to empower regional stakeholders to conduct similar investigations.

  • GLOBAL RESEARCH

Collaborates with stakeholders across the globe to develop projects to analyze China’s influence in various parts of the world. Our flagship project, the China Index, measures China’s influence in over 30 countries in different sectors, such as in local politics, foreign policy, the economy, society, media, academia, etc. We facilitate China In The World (CITW) Network that brings together global researchers, activists, and non-governmental stakeholders in the annual Summit.

  • SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

Collaborates with global researchers to conduct social research to identify factors that influence the susceptibility of individuals to disinformation and propaganda, and accordingly, develop interventions to strengthen society’s capacity to resist disinformation. Analyzing propaganda structures to identify their mechanisms of influence, in order to develop effective countermeasures to strengthen society’s defenses against state-led propaganda. Organizing capacity-building training to equip regional stakeholders with the capabilities to conduct similar research in their local settings.

The China Index is Doublethink Lab’s flagship project to measure China’s influence globally, in order to provide a comparative perspective of China’s influence across countries. The China Index ranks countries and territories according to their level of influence, and allows users to compare the scores across countries and domains, to gauge the seriousness of the influence.
